Before the cooldown, a cold front is delivering heavy rain to Central Florida

Orlando, Fl. – A disorganized chain of weather systems is expected to arrive this weekend, changing Central Florida’s weather over the next few days from sunny and warm to rainy and cold.

FRIDAY

A fading cold front turns stationary over North Florida on Friday afternoon, bringing with it the possibility of a milder day. South of that system, warmer air will be brought in by southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph, which will cause afternoon highs to reach the low to mid-80s.

Moisture begins to seep back toward the I-4 corridor on Friday night. There is just enough humidity and mild breeze to sustain patches of patchy fog, particularly close and north of I-4, even though the majority of forecasts limit showers.

WEEKEND

There is a sloppy weather pattern from Saturday to Monday. While another low pressure system forms along the northern Gulf Coast on Sunday, the feeble front across North Florida sags into Central Florida and gradually dissipates. A stronger cold front will then pass over the area late Sunday and into Monday thanks to the forming low.

On Saturday afternoon and evening, there are sporadic rains (between 30 and 50 percent).

Rainfall becomes more widespread (50–80%) ahead of the reinforcing front on Sunday afternoon and Sunday night, increasing the likelihood of rain even further.

Although there is still little risk of severe weather, there is enough instability to give a 20% probability of thunderstorms.

This weekend’s temperatures will fluctuate, peaking in the low to mid-80s on Saturday and then dropping a little to the mid-70s on Sunday.

NEXT WEEK

By Monday, high temperatures hover in the 70s as cooler air takes over. Early next week, overnight lows drop into the 50s.

On Tuesday, high pressure develops over the eastern United States, bringing with it cooler, drier air into early next week.

Tuesday and Wednesday are predicted to remain dry, with highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s.
