Pep Boys published its first-ever list of the “Worst Roads in America” this month. And at the very top comes the Sunshine State.
Pep Boys examined the metro areas in its operational markets where drivers experience the highest rates of road-related repairs in order to collect the statistics.
According to the survey, “road-related repairs, including alignment, suspension, and tire repairs, were more common among drivers in these markets.” “These higher repair rates can often be attributed to local driving conditions, such as severe weather, heavy traffic, or ongoing construction.”
Overall, Orlando, Florida—the City Beautiful itself—held the top spot on the poll.
According to researchers, the large metropolis ranked top in the country for having some of the greatest levels of maintenance demands.
“Central Florida takes the top spot on the list, with drivers here experiencing some of the most frequent repair needs in the country. Orlando’s service data shows higher-than-average rates of alignment and suspension work, along with frequent single-tire replacements— trends that may reflect the challenging driving conditions local motorists face throughout Central Florida.
The combination of heavy commuter traffic, construction zones and variable soil conditions likely contribute to this area’s increased repair activity.”
