Before this weekend’s fiercely contested rivalry game against Florida State, Miami football will be the only team without a loss. However, it would be wise for them to hope that their first away game does not happen in the same manner as their cross-state foe.

The Hurricanes defeated Notre Dame and three other in-state opponents, most recently Florida, to go to 4-0 before their off week. Although Carson Beck has performed admirably since coming from Georgia, Rueben Bain Jr.’s defense has been the standout. UM has given up 244.5 yards per game (13th in the country) and 11.5 points per game (ninth in the country).

In 2024, they will take on a 3-1 FSU club that has recovered well after a dismal 2–10 campaign. With a multifaceted run game and dual-threat quarterback Tommy Castellanos at the helm, the Seminoles come in with the top offense in the country, scoring 53 points and accumulating 600 yards per game. However, they recently suffered their first defeat of the season, falling to Virginia’s explosive attack 46-38 in double overtime on Friday night.

This is the date of this week’s Hurricanes vs. Seminoles game.

FSU vs. Miami prediction

After losing the opportunity to make this a matchup of unbeatens, Florida State will be out for blood. They have depended on their running offense, which is led by freshman Ousmane Kromah, Tommy Castellanos, and Gavin Sawchuk, a transfer from Oklahoma. They haven’t yet encountered a defense that can match Miami’s, despite the fact that their rushing attack is averaging over 336 yards per game, which is second in the country. Wesley Bissainthe, Ahmad Moten, and Rueben Bain have held opponents, including Jeremiyah Love and Notre Dame, to only 76.2 ypg, which ties them for seventh place.

FSU cannot afford to lose again after their defense gave up 211 on the run and 440 total yards against Virginia last week if they want to pull off the shock. With Mark Fletcher and CharMar Brown in the backfield, Jordan Lyle might return, which is a concerning possibility given that Miami has gained 180.5 yards per game without him. On paper, this looks like all Hurricanes, but the Seminoles will have the support of the hungry home crowd. Forecast: FSU 17, Miami 27
